Sio freshy! Wanyama snubbed by FIFA

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award in February but his powerful strike was not nominated among the best strikes of the year in the FIFA awards held on Monday.

Wanyama’s stunning long-range strike in the 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Feb. 4 beat seven other nominees for the prize, including Mohamed Salah’s skillful individual effort from the same match.

The 26-year-old beat Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius to score his first goal of the season just one minute after coming off the bench at Anfield. Salah was awarded as the Puskas award for his strike against Everton.

Salah’s curling effort from December 2017 beat competition from Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick against Juventus, and Gareth Bale’s acrobatic stunner against Liverpool in the Champions League final to win the Puskas Award at Monday’s ceremony in London.
