On Tuesday, Kenyans woke up to a report from IEBC that, maligned CEO Ezra Chiloba has not been fired as it had been alleged by some media outlets.

According to the electoral body, the disciplinary process against Chiloba is however still on-going.

“It is not true that CEO Ezra Chiloba, who is on suspension, has been dismissed from employment. What is true is that the disciplinary process is on-going and the Commission will make an objective decision on the matter,” IEBC said on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

What the commission didn’t tell you is that, Chiloba is drawing a huge salary from taxpayers’ money despite offering no services.

According to one very angry Kenyan, Chiloba earns a mouthwatering ksh 612,000 per month plus other allowances. This means that he has earned almost ksh four million during the time he has been on suspension.

According to labor laws, Chiloba will continue drawing a full salary while on suspension. If the investigations prove that he is guilty, then he will draw half salary until he is fired.

In view of the above revelations, the question on everyone’s lips is why have investigations taken so long especially, during a time when the government is lamenting on a huge wage bill?

It will be ironical if Chiloba, is reinstated after all the drama.
