Lucas Moura has won the Premier League Player of the Month award
Moura was in great form for Spurs in the first month in the season as Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured three wins from three.

The Brazilian got off the mark in Tottenham‘s second match of the campaign against Fulham at Wembley and followed that up with a deadly double at Old Trafford as the north London side shocked Manchester United with a stunning 3-0 win.

Moura’s fantastic displays have now been acknowledged with Premier League’s Player of the Month gong. But some Liverpool fans think their star attacker Sadio Mane should have won the award instead.

Like Moura, Mane scored three goals for his side during August. He fired in two in the opening day thrashing of West Ham and added another the following week away at Crystal Palace. Mane also made a strong start to September by scoring a crucial goal at Leicester in a 2-1 away victory.

And Reds fans think their man deserves the award more than Moura. One fan wrote on Twitter: “Lucas Moura named August’s Player of the Month for having one good game against Man Utd while Sadio Mané who has 4 goals in 4 games doesn’t get it? Okay, mate.”

Another posted: “How has Lucas Moura won player of the month ahead of Mane? Like it doesn’t matter at all but the latter has 4 in 4 from wide lol.”

A third tweeted: “Lucas Moura won POTM??why didn’t anyone say Mane had changed profession.”

Moura’s fine Spurs form wasn’t enough for him to get a place in Brazil’s latest squad.

The country’s coach Tite has been keeping a close eye on the Premier League, though, with Everton winger Richarlison making the cut for the games against the United States and El Salvador.

Mane will have the chance to get revenge over Moura when English top flight domestic football returns after the international break.

Tottenham host Liverpool at Wembley on August 15.

Both sides then get their Champions League campaigns underway the following midweek with Spurs travelling to Inter Milan and Liverpool hosting Paris St-Germain.
