How Arsenal ace managed to overcome dryspell

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is finally off the mark for Arsenal this season and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has provided the reason why.

Having scored 10 goals in just 13 Premier League appearances following his big money move from Borussia Dortmund in January, the Gabon international has been tipped to challenge for the Golden Boot award alongside the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero this season.

He had an effort correctly ruled out for offside in the 2-0 loss against Manchester City before missing two golden chances in the 3-2 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge a week later.

More frustration followed in the win over West Ham United which prompted an hilarious suggestion from the striker about becoming a goalkeeper.

However, it’s one of the Gunners’ three stoppers who has revealed the secret behind Aubameyang ending his three game goal drought with a fantastic curling effort against Cardiff City.

Replying to a post on the 29-year-old’s official Instagram account, Martinez explained that the extra-shooting practice finally paid off.

It was noticeable how much happier Aubameyang looked and how effective he was playing alongside Alexandre Lacazette against the Bluebirds and the Frenchman explained the secret behind their promising partnership.

It’s nice to play together because we compliment each other’s strengths,” Lacazette said. “He (Aubameyang) deserved to score because he has worked so hard since the start of the season.

“The Chelsea game was hard for him because he missed some chances, but it was nice to play well with him. “The system was good, we worked on it all week. It was different, but good.”
