Welbeck would be behind Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Emery’s line-up, leading some to question whether he would depart. The England international scored five Premier League goals last season but has just one year left on his Arsenal contract.

Despite playing just 11 minutes for England at the World Cup, Welbeck only returned to Arsenal training yesterday.

And the Evening Standard reported that Emery is willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old.
Arsenal have handed attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi a new contract recently and it’s believed that’s a sign that Welbeck would struggle to feature.

The former Manchester United man wants to remain in England however Turkish side Besiktas are believed to be interested. Everton, Bournemouth and Southampton are among several clubs also reported to be keen with the English transfer window closing on Thursday (5pm).

Emery is also believed to be keen to cut the wage bill having spent £70million this summer.Welbeck earns £115,000 per week and those wages would free up more space for Emery as he looks to tie Aaron Ramsey down to a new deal.

Emery is eager for Arsenal to keep hold of the midfielder but they know they cannot afford for him to run down the final 12 months of his contract.

Sources understands Chelsea and Liverpool are both interest in securing £35m-rated Ramsey’s services before the transfer window shuts.

And reports have claimed Arsenal are fighting a losing battle to keep hold of the 27-year-old because he wants a staggering £300,000 a week.

That salary would see Ramsey surpass the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aubameyang to become the club’s highest earner.

Danny Welbeck reported back for pre-season training on Monday but his Arsenal future looks uncertain.

The 27-year-old was given an extended break despite playing only 11 minutes for England at the World Cup.

Several England players returned earlier — Ruben Loftus-Cheek played for Chelsea against the Gunners last week, while Kyle Walker and John Stones started Sunday’s Community Shield.

It is believed Unai Emery has informed Welbeck he will not be a regular and the Gunners will listen to offers for the striker, who scored five goals in 28 Premier League appearances last season.

Given his late return, it is unlikely Welbeck will be ready for Sunday’s first league game of the season, at home to champions Manchester City.

Welbeck has one year remaining on his deal and has attracted interest from Turkish side Besiktas, but his preference is to stay in England.

Everton, Bournemouth and Southampton are among several clubs who could swoop before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Arsenal need to sell after spending £70m this summer and, with Welbeck earning £115,000 a week, Emery is also under pressure to cut a bloated wage bill.

Arsenal are also willing to sell Lucas Perez and may sign a left-back on a temporary basis as cover for Nacho Monreal, given Sead Kolasinac is out for more than two months with a knee problem.

On 2 September 2014, in the late hours of deadline day, Welbeck joined Arsenal on a “long-term deal” for a £16 million fee.Stating the reason for his departure to a direct rival, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said “Welbeck doesn’t have the record of Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney. We let him go because of Falcao, but also to allow the youngsters to fit in. That is the policy. That is why I am here.” Welbeck left Manchester United making a total of 142 appearances, scoring 29 goals.

Welbeck made his Arsenal debut against the previous season’s champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in a 2–2 draw on 13 September. Following his first two appearances for Arsenal, manager Arsène Wenger urged fans to be patient, saying: “Danny will improve—we don’t have to make a problem of that. We have to be patient with him”.  Welbeck scored his first Arsenal goal against Aston Villa in a 3–0 win on 20 September, and also set up a goal for Mesut Özil.
