Demi Lovato has reportedly agreed to go straight to rehab when she leaves hospital. The 25-year-old has been in Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles for the past week after suffering a suspected overdose at her Hollywood Hills home. And it has now been claimed that Demi has agreed to check in to a live-in rehab facility when she is discharged from hospital. According to TMZ, plans have already been made with a facility to send Demi straight from hospital, although it is unknown whether the rehab centre is in California or another state.

Demi’s family waited to raise the issue of rehab to the Cool For The Summer singer after she suffered complications from her overdose. TMZ reports: ‘Demi was very sick and her family did not want to upset her with something that might trigger conflict.’ A source previously told Entertainment Tonight that Demi was serious about getting back on track with her sobriety. They said: ‘Her and her team need to decide what is the best decision for Demi once she leaves the hospital. Demi has told the people close to her that she is serious about her sobriety, and plans to do whatever it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle moving forward.’

Lovato, who shot to fame on the Disney series Sonny With A Chance, had been sober for six years, but suffered a relapse earlier this year. This was detailed in her heartbreaking song Sober, in which she sang: ‘Momma, I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore/ And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor/ To the ones who never left me/ We’ve been down this road before/ I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.’ Demi has been open over the years about her struggles with drugs, alcohol and eating disorders, and has completed two prior stints in rehab.

Demi Lovato had a huge wake up call following her suspected overdose last week. The star was said to have been lucky to survive the incident last week, after she was found unconscious at home having seemingly taken a mysterious substance. It was said that someone had administered Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of opioids, which may have saved her life. A week on, with Demi still in hospital having suffered ‘complications’, it’s been claimed she is now ready to get serious about getting sober. An insider told Entertainment Tonight: ‘Demi has been in the hospital for over a week because she needed to be monitored by a medical professional. During her time in the hospital, she became physically sick, and the doctors wanted to make sure they kept a close eye on her until they were certain she was fine to be released.’

They added that she has decided she wants to get serious about her health: ‘Her and her team need to decide what is the best decision for Demi once she leaves the hospital. Demi has told the people close to her that she is serious about her sobriety, and plans to do whatever it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle moving forward.’ Before her relapse, Demi had been sober for six years. However, she hinted at her fresh battle in track Sober, released in June. It’s been claimed that her friends are now urging her to quit showbiz in order to fully recover.

The singer, who has been a star since she was just 13 years old, is also reportedly being urged to quit showbiz to get better.

A friend said that starting so young as an actress has taken a huge toll on Demi. ‘She needs to get out of this whole system that she has been in since she was 13,’ they said. ‘Demi never had a day off.’ Another source added that Demi’s mum Dianna De La Garza has been unable to help as Demi has had the independence of earning her own money since such a young age. But they added that her life ‘is at stake’ if she doesn’t take a step back.
