Boost for Ulinzi as Nzoia come calling

The preparations for the game against Nzoia Sugar on Sunday 29th July received a massive boost with the report that four players, initially major doubts for the game, could be available for the clash at Afraha Stadium.

Assistant captain Hassan Mohamed, who had to be substituted with a head injury in the weekend win over Vihiga United, is in training and could be ready for the Sunday match, while George Odhiambo and Mark Bikokwa, who missed the weekend game with knee knocks are also back in training.

Key man John Kago, who has missed the last two matches with a knee injury is also back in training and in contention for a place against Nzoia.

However, defender Eugene Ochieng, and midfielder Oscar Injika will wait longer for their debuts after they were ruled out with knee and ankle injuries respectively, as confirmed by Team Doctor John Imboywa.

“Eugene has to see an orthopedic surgeon to ascertain the extent of his knee injury while Injika is also facing the same for his ankle injury. They have been referred to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital for the checkups and after that we will be able to determine how long they may be out,” he said.

Meanwhile, Omar Boraafya remains sidelined, having been ruled out of the past weekend game with injury.

The full schedule of the Kenyan Premier League(KPL) is back after a short hiatus with the SportPesa Shield Cup taking center stage last weekend, fans will get to enjoy Tusker FC’s clash against Sofapaka at the Ruaraka grounds on Sunday 29 July from the comfort of their couches as the match will be aired live on K24 and the KPL Facebook page according to the league’s official portal.

Tusker will welcome second-placed Sofapaka at their Ruaraka Stadium as they aim to make amends of the 5-2 rinsing at the hands of Kariobangi Sharks in their last league assignment. The loss to Sharks undid their impressive run of five games without a defeat.

Tusker however returned to winning ways in the Sportpesa Shield Cup after overcoming a resilient Bungoma Super Stars 1-0.

Sofapaka, on the other hand, saw their title charge suffer a massive blow as they also suffered defeat, going down 2-0 to Sony Sugar. Just like Tusker, Sofapaka sailed through to the quarters of the Shield Cup with a resounding 4-1 victory over Western Stima.
