Chelsea identify perfect Courtois replacement

Chelsea have identified Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois, according to The Sun.

The Belgian looks set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer with Real Madrid working on a move leaving the Blues to go in search of a replacement. Chelsea have surprisingly listed Hart as a transfer target despite the former English number one having a disappointing season on loan at West Ham United.

Following two disastrous seasons under Pep Guardiola in Manchester, Hart is desperate to finalise a move away from the Premier League champions.City are understood to have placed a £5m asking price on the 31-year-old which has attracted the interest of Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea. Sarri and the club’s hierarchy view Hart as a sensible signing given his low price tag and his potential to boost the club’s their count of homegrown players.

The 26-year-old is excepted to sign with Los Balcos on a four-year contract with Chelsea looking to offload the goalkeeper.

Courtois’ priority is on returning to the Spanish capital, where his family are based, and is refusing to a sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge. The former Atletico Madrid player has just one year remaining on his contract placing the reigning European champions in a strong negotiation position, with a deal expected to finalised at around €35m
