23-year-old Belgian player Adnan Januzaj has reportedly been approached by Everton.
The winger is currently playing for Real Sociedad, after leaving United last summer.
However, now Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad has suggested that a quick return to the Premier League could be imminent.
They added that Goodison Park could be the perfect base for the player, who knows the North West of England well.
Januzaj was under the management of David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal, and looked like he would become a regular, however, he fell out of favour and was then loaned to Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland.
Mourinho decided to sell Januzaj last summer after 63 appearances and five goals for United.
Marco Silva is looking to build his squad for the coming season, after replacing Sam Allardyce over the summer.
