Thibaut Courtois has plunged Chelsea into full-scale crisis after becoming the second big name to cast doubt over his future.

Courtois admitted that Chelsea’s last contract offer was “different to what he expected” and the Belgium keeper only has one year left on his current deal.

That could mean Courtois follows Eden Hazard out of the exit door at Stamford Bridge after the Chelsea superstar admitted “it might be time to discover something different” with Real Madrid chasing him.

Real Madrid are also interested in Courtois – who has been offered £250,000-a-week to make him the world’s highest-paid keeper – and moving to La Liga may be his choice as both his children live in the Spanish capital.

Courtois dropped his bombshell after Hazard and it will be another huge headache for new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to handle.

Courtois said: “I will be coming back, for sure and I will see what they want and how they say it. Obviously with this World Cup, I think what was on the table obviously is different than what I can have, maybe.

“In this World Cup, I have ignored all the speculation, all the rumours. But now in the next few days I will have a chat with my agent and see what Chelsea told him, and then we will talk. But I feel happy at Chelsea, it’s not that I necessarily want to leave.”
