West Ham consider Dimitri Payet bid less than two years after his bitter move to Marseille

West Ham are considering re-signing outcast Dimitri Payet. The former Hammers favourite has been offered to them, less than two years after orchestrating a bitter transfer to Marseille.

Payet had eggs thrown at his windows and was verbally abused by fans when he demanded a move in January 2017 with the club in a relegation battle. The free-kick wizard is now 31 and French giants Marseille want to offload him due to financial pressures. West Ham’s top brass may be willing to do business and new boss Manuel Pellegrini has canvassed the squad about it.

With playmaker Manuel Lanzini out all next season with a cruciate ligament injury, Payet’s technical skills would provide a creative force for the team in his absence.
