Gianfranco Zola opens up on Maurizio Sarri’s potential move to Chelsea

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has had his say on suggestions that countryman Maurizio Sarri is set to take over at his former club soon enough. While it has been a long time in the making, there have been reports this week suggesting that the manager is expecting to move to Stamford Bridge soon.

That means that Antonio Conte will be leaving the club having won a Premier League title in his first year and an FA Cup in the second. Even after that, his Premier League campaign in his second year wasn’t great and that could have signalled the end for him at Stamford Bridge.

Now, former Blues star Gianfranco Zola has explained that Chelsea are interested in Sarri and explained just how good the former Napoli boss is. There’s a lot of talk about it, there are a lot of teams that would like a coach like Sarri, Chelsea is interested right now, we’ll see, I think the parties are working on it,” he explained on Sky, as quoted by Calciomercato.

The first time I got interested in Sarri in a careful way is during my first experience at Cagliari I liked his Empoli because he had a different attitude from a team that has to be saved, a more big team attitude, always proactive.

“If Sarri went to Chelsea, I hope he can do his job. work, programming, constant improvement, I hope I can do the same results where it was previously, it’s a different challenge but with so many advantages I’m sure it will have the chance to do a great job “.
