World Cup: 3 Things we Learnt From France’s Stalemate With Denmark

Group C finished all its matches, with France and Denmark going through to the next round having played out a draw. Now both teams look forward to the round of 16 where they play Argentina and Croatia respectively.

Here are three things we learnt from the France vs Denmark game at the World Cup.

3. France need more goals

France have arguably the most talented squad in the World Cup and their forward line is one to die for. Unfortunately for the team though, they have not been able to unleash the full force in the group stage.

They have only managed to score three goals, one of them which was a penalty. France will really need to unlock their attacking ability if they are going to face better teams in the knockout rounds and hope to go all the way.

2. Dullest game of the tournament

The goalless draw between Denmark and France was easily the dullest game of the tournament and surprisingly the first game which did not have any goals in it. Both Denmark and France were content to not exert a lot off effort in the game, knowing full well that nothing will change in the group dynamics irrespective of the result.

Fans at the stadium and on social media were equally critical of the very tedious game in what has been an otherwise exciting tournament.

1. No cohesion in France

The French team continues to look like a team that is made up of talented individuals rather than a cohesive unit, and this could spell trouble for them in the later stages of the tournament. With every game now a must-win clash, manager Didier Deschamps will need to get the team up and running and playing like a single unit, with all the players on the same page, for them to win their second World Cup title after their triumph in 1998.
