England draws lessons from Germany’s World Cup woes

England manager Gareth Southgate has warned England players to use Germany as motivation, and remember that they aren’t invincible.

He made it clear that anyone can get knocked out and see their dreams end – and that the England players have both learnt in terms of seeing what Germany do as a team and also why they’ve struggled at the World Cup – not to mention making it clear that in this competition, anyone can crash out.

“What it shows is that, with Italy and Holland out before we got to this point, Chile – who were in the Confederations Cup final – as well and now Germany… there really is no opportunity to rest on where you are as a team or stop the constant improvement.”
