BREAKING: Lemar signs £63m Atletico deal

Thomas Lemar has concurred terms for his looming transfer to Atletico Madrid from Monaco, it was affirmed on Monday. Atletico declared a week ago they had achieved a primer concurrence with the Ligue 1 club to sign Lemar, who has been reliably connected with a move far from Stade Louis II since enjoying a hugely impressive campaign in the club’s title-winning 2016-17 season.

And the Europa League winners released a statement on Monday revealing the 22-year-old has signed his contract, with only a medical and the finalisation of the agreement with Monaco needed to complete the switch. Atletico also revealed new deals had been handed to Antoine Griezmann and Lucas Hernandez, running until 2023 and 2024 respectively. Lemar was an unused substitute as France opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Australia on Saturday.
