Putin elated as Russia scores first goal of the 2018 World Cup


It took only 11 minutes for Yury Gazinsky to register the first goal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Yury Gazinsky’s header – the first goal of his international career – during the opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia, left Russian President Vladimir Putin, sitting next to FIFA president Gianni Infantino visibliy elated and looking over like “hey, I told you?”
The match ended 5-0 and the Russians look to have put themselves in good stead to qualify from the group stage.
