Luis Suarez and his Uruguay team-mates showed no signs of nerves on the eve of the World Cup as they relaxed over some special ‘mate’ tea.
The traditional caffeine-rich drink is a personal favourite among South American players and it has already become a key component of the Uruguayn camp’s diet for the tournament in Russia. Mate is particularly popular in Argentina and Uruguay and is traditionally consumed through a straw and held in a gourd.
Friday marks Suarez and co’s first Group A match as they take on Mohamed Salah’s Egypt side in the Ekaterinburg Arena.
