Ander Herrera is prepared to turn down offers to leave Manchester United this summer despite Jose Mourinho signing Brazil star Fred. United agreed a £52million move to land Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk last week and followed the deal up with a move for teenage full-back Diogo Dalot. Fred, who suffered an ankle injury the day after his move to United was agreed, will provide competition for the likes of Herrera at Old Trafford.
Spanish midfielder Herrera has developed into a dependable player for the Red Devils and has Jose Mourinho’s confidence. But he has just one year remaining on his current contract and is a target for a number of European clubs. Spanish sides Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in signing Herrera but the Daily Mail say he is determined to stay put and make an impact for United next season.
