His first spell at FC Barcelona was a successful year. There he won every major tournament winning treble in his first season. He joined FC Barcelona at the start of 2014-2015 champions and he actually had a good start and he became the champion of Spain.

He actually made his senior team debut in 2005 from FC Basel. It took two years for him to be included in the international team of Croatia. He made his debut against Estonia. Since then he has appeared in Euro 2008, Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014 from Croatian national team.
2013- 2014 was a successful year for him as well for Real Madrid too. That year they became the champion of Europe for the tenth time and also won the Copa Del Rey. They claimed this award against rival Barcelona.
He has also achieved several prestigious awards being a professional football player. In 2003, he was honored by the Bosnian Premier League Player of the Year. The following year he also became the Croatian Football Hope of the Year.
