Cristiano Ronaldo to Continue Playing for Portugal even if they win the World Cup

Even if Portugal win this summer’s World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that he won’t announce his international retirement.

Ronaldo will undoubtedly go down as one of the best players to grace the sport, winning five Ballon d’Ors, five Champions League titles and the 2016 European Championships with his country.

However, one trophy that does evade him is the World Cup, something the 33-year-old will be hoping to change this year in Russia.

Even if Portugal do win the competition on July 15 though, Ronaldo has revealed he will continue playing international football.

He told the ‘Sun’: “Winning the World Cup is the best thing you can possibly achieve in your career because you represent your country and it is so difficult to win.

“So if we could do it, then for me it would be the maximum. To give a World Cup to Portugal would be the greatest dream of my life and mean that I would have won everything a player can aspire to win.

He concluded: “Some people may think if I win the World Cup it would be time to retire, but I am ambitious and I still have a lot to give to this sport”.
