Former Madrid man Guti could be the next manager at the club, according to Murcia president Victor Galvez.
Madrid have not yet found a replacement for Zinedine Zidane, who handed in his resignation at the Bernabeu last week.
The European champions have been linked with a number of managers – Mauricio Pochettino was their first-choice target but they have been unable to prise him away from Tottenham – and it appears as though they will now promote Guti, who is currently in charge of their under-19s.
“Guti will not coach Murcia because he will be the Real Madrid coach. He was the coach that I wanted, it’s a shame that Zidane did not take two days more to make a decision,” Murcia president Galvez said.
