Manuel Pellegrini has talked for the first time about how he fought off armed gangsters in a street in Chile – and how a gun fired into the air had seconds earlier been pointed at him.
The West Ham manager was with his wife were in the capital Santiago on Saturday night when they were attacked by two robbers wielding revolvers.
He revealed that he had thrown himself on one of the gunmen after he had tried to steal his wife Carola Pucci’s handbag, before the gangster pointed a gun at his chest then fired upwards. He also doesn’t think it courageous more like self defence.
