De Bruyne backs Sane following exclusion

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has admitted his shock that City team mate Leroy Sane has been left out of the Germany squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Sane, PFA Young Player of the Year, was surprisingly left out of Joachim Low’s 23-man squad for the tournament this summer in Russia.

De Bruyne says the 22-year-old forward is among the very best young players in the world and the tournament will be poorer without him.

‘For me he has been the best young player this year in the whole world, so you can see how I rate him. In the end I don’t know what happened in Germany, maybe there was an issue between them [Sane and Low]. We’ll never know, I guess.’ De Bruyne said
