O’Shea is set to sign a one-year deal with Paul Clement’s Championship club Reading after parting ways with Sunderland.
The former Manchester United was keen to extend his career at the Black Cats, despite successive relegations from the Premier League to League One under his captaincy but new Sunderland boss Jack Ross has decided not to take up the option of an additional 12 months for the Waterford man and he will now sign for Clement’s Royals.
O’Shea joined the club from United in a £6million deal seven years ago.
The 37-year old defender played under eight bosses at the Stadium of Light.
