Arsenal and Chelsea have both been heavily linked with a summer move for Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen as they look to recruit a new shot stopper.
Thibaut Courtois’ stay at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming to an end while Arsenal are keen to sign a long-term replacement for 36-year-old Petr Cech.
Cillessen joined Barcelona in 2016 but has been largely consigned to a place on the bench due to the consistency of Germany’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
However, the player’s contract at Barcelona has €60 million (£52m) release clause.
His desire for regular first team football pay prove key in a departure from the Nou Camp with both London clubs able to offer that.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the 29-year-old in recent days as their search for a new goalkeeper continues.
