As Egypt’s star striker Mohamed Salah battles to recover in time for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, a Kuwaiti preacher has said the injury is pehaps “God’s punishment” because he broke his fast during Ramadan.
Salah, playing for Liverpool, suffered a shoulder injury in the Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday. The 25-year-old suffered a heavy fall in a challenge with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
Salah, who scored 44 goals in a sensational first season for Liverpool after joining from AS Roma, was voted Player of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association this month, completing a sweep of England’s individual prizes and becoming the first African player to win the prestigious award.
