England manager Gareth Southgate is not intending to update his World Cup standby list following the withdrawal of Burnley defender James Tarkowski who is set to undergo surgery for hernia problem.
Southgate feels covered with six players who can play at centre back and therefore sees no need to call up more defenders in his standby list.
This comes amidst reports that Manchester United defender Phil Jones will miss the friendly against Nigeria as his partner is due to give birth.
