Serie A legend Buffon set to sign deal with PSG

Gigi Buffon is moving closer to signing for PSG after leaving Juventus.

The goalkeeper has left the Serie A side following the end of his contract, and wants to carry on playing – and found the offer from PSG too much to refuse.

Corriere dello Sport claim that Buffon will get a contract for two years, and earn 8 million Euros a season, a huge amount – and will of course be the number one stopper as he tries to end his career on a high after yet another Champions League disappointment with Juventus last season.

The player has been accused of joining the Ligue 1 side for the money, with one former Juventus player claiming that the Champions League has nothing to do with it, and money being the primary factor for him.

Former Juventus keeper Tacconi talked to Itasportpress and said: “I hope he [Buffon] will say that he accepted the offer of Psg for the money, not for the Champions League.

“Juventus fans deserve some respect. It would be great to meet him in the Champions League final and beat him. He should admit he will go to Psg for the money, let’s see if he will be able to live up to expectations.”

However, the real reason is far more likely to be that he wants to have a final shot at winning the Champions League, with it being the one trophy the stopper is yet to win, and after so many near misses with Juventus, he’s joining the one side in Europe who are as determined to win the trophy as he is.
