Phil Jones might miss England’s match day squad to face Nigeria at Wembley on Saturday following his partner being due to give birth, meaning he may be allowed to miss the World Cup warm-up.
James Tarkowski has already been taken off the standby list to have hernia surgery but, as it stands England are not considering calling up a replacement at this stage. Jones being one of four recognized defenders in the 23-man England squad for the World Cup in Russia, along with John Stones, Harry Maguire and Gary Cahill.
England is set to host Nigeria at Wembley on Saturday before playing Costa Rica at Elland Road on Thursday, June 7.
