English Premier League side Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly seeking to sign Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba.
Alba, whose contract runs up to 2022 has been waiting for Barcelona to offer him a new contract and has not yet received an extension. Sports claim United and Chelsea have been alerted to the dispute between the player and his club, and are poised to make their move.
Both Premier League clubs are on the hunt for new defenders, and Jose Mourinho is desperate to add natural full-backs to his squad. The left-back is highly regarded across football as a player capable of having an influence in attack, as well as defense.
“Raul Sanllehi was still at the club when they told us not to worry, that they were going to call us to renew. ‘But we are still waiting. It’s been a year and a half now,” Fores said.
“We don’t understand anything, maybe it’s normal for Barca or maybe they’re not happy with the performances of a player included in FIFA’s XI and who is the defender with the most assists in European football,” he added.
The 29-year-old made 48 appearances this season, grabbing 12 assists in those games.
