Morocco hosting world Cup termed good for both Europe and Africa

Morocco Bid chief executive Hicham El Amrani believes that hosting the 2026 World Cup will not only be good for Africa but Europe too.

Amrani believes the North Africas are capable of hosting the global tournament due their vibrancy and hospitality.

“A Moroccan World Cup is not just an African World Cup. It would also be almost a European World Cup with the south of Spain just 14km (nine miles) away. We’re just a few hours’ flying distances from capital cities across Europe, and the European countries will provide a huge number of fans,” he told BBC Sport.

“There is confidence from our meetings with member associations across Europe, they understand where we come from. They know Moroccan hospitality and vibrancy. Without a doubt, we can deliver, the official added.

More than 200 of Fifa’s member associations will vote to decide the 2026 World Cup host on 13 June.
