Madrid about to spend €40 million on Odriozola

Real Madrid are set to spend €40 million on Real Sociedad’s right-back Alvaro Odriozola, according to reports from MARCA and AS. The young defender has a €40 million release clause on his contract and would be free to join any team willing to meet that price.

Odriozola is still 22 years old and he’s also willing to join the club, per those same reports. He will compete with Dani Carvajal for a spot in the starting lineup after a season which proved that the young Achraf Hakimi is still way too young to actually be a backup in this team.

Odriozola was included in Julen Lopetegi’s squad list for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has completed a very good season and was one of the few bright spots for Real Sociedad during the year.

If Real Madrid manage to sign the young defender, Zidane will finally have two options for that spot.
