Liverpool set firm €40m stance on AC Milan star; £55m Serie A defender wanted by Manchester

Inter Milan have rejected a pair of €60m bids from Manchester United and Manchester City for star defender Milan Skriniar, a report claims.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Inter has no intention of selling the Slovakian defender this summer despite interest from some elite European clubs.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the former Sampdoria man, who joined for a fee of just €20m last summer.

Skriniar played down speculation linking him with a move away from Italy and claimed he was “happy to be at Inter”, but he did reveal a £53million offer was rejected by Inter from an unnamed club in January.

“I know an incredible offer came in the winter,” he told Slovakian daily Sport in February.

“I left everything in my agent’s hands. I would have gone had it been for the best. I’m happy with the interest of big clubs, but at the same time I was delighted that Inter decided not to sell.

“I really like Real Madrid and Barcelona but the same applies to the two in Manchester. The Premier League is the most beautiful in the world.

“My eventual departure would depend on many things, such as the agreement between the clubs and the role I would be adopting. If I had to change just to be on the bench, or to only play in the cup, I would stay at Inter.

“There were so many rumors about me in the winter but I never considered leaving, certainly not in January. I want to continue to do well and grow. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
