Arsenal to increase transfer budget

Arsenal have significantly increased Unai Emery’s summer transfer budget, Metro reports.

It was initially believed that Emery had been handed £50 million to spend but Arsenal’s board have released another £20m in a bid to boost the club’s chances in 2018/19.

Kroenke praised Emery for his energy and knowledge of the club following the Spaniard’s appointment.

“He’s a proven winner. We’re confident that he is the right person for the job and that he will work to deliver the triumphs our fans, staff, and everyone who cares about Arsenal want,” Arsenal’s majority shareholder said.

Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu, Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and West Brom’s Jonny Evans are all being considered.
