The international consortium led by Stewart Donald is going to takeover Sunderland after a meeting between the prospective new owner and the EFL. This takeover has been approved by the governing body subject to conditions, including Donald’s sale of his controlling stake in National League side Eastleigh.

The businessman has agreed to do the same to shift to the Stadium of Light. Both he and the EFL are confident the deal will be fully approved by the start of next week. A Sunderland statement said: “Following a meeting with the EFL on Friday, and the provision of further information, we can now confirm the proposed sale of the club could be concluded as early as next week.”
