Gor Mahia coach blames players’ stubbornness for draw against Sofapaka

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr has revealed that his players failed to listen to his halftime advice and ended up allowing Sofapaka back to the game.

The league leaders were leading 2-0 by halftime but conceded three goals in the final half and ended up with a 3-3 draw after scoring late through Innocent Wafula.

Kerr says the side wanted to score more in the tie and assumed his halftime advice. He has also admitted that side defended poorly in the final half.

“Leading 2-0 at half time, I told my players to stop giving the ball away because Sofapaka would counter since we always want to score. They obviously did not listen, fair play to Sofapaka they didn’t give up and very poor defending cost us three goals,” Kerr told the club’s official portal.

Despite the draw, Gor Mahia remains top of the log with 31 points.
