Just a week ago, Argentina announced their 35-man World Cup squad for Russia.
On Monday, Jorge Sampaoli will whittle that down to 23 players who will represent Argentina in the 2018 World Cup.
Argentina are in Group D of the World Cup, alongside Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria. For many this is the “Group of Death”.
But, with Leo Messi anything is possible and it would be a surprise were Argentina to fail to qualify for the knockout rounds.
According to Olé, this is Argentina’s 23-man World Cup squad:
Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero, Franco Armani and Willy Caballero.
Defenders: Gabriel Mercado, Federico Fazio, Nicolás Otamendi, Cristian Ansaldi, Nicolás Tagliafico and Marcos Rojo.
Midfielders: Ever Banega, Javier Mascherano, Eduardo Salvio, Lucas Biglia, Angel Di Maria, Gio Lo Celso, Manuel Lanzini, Maxi Meza and Marcos Acuña.
Forwards: Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero, Gonzalo Higuaín, Cristian Pavón and Paulo Dybala.
