The Kenya Premier League will not postpone the much-awaited league tie pitting Giants Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards set for 28 May.

The Football Kenya Federation had earlier requested the league organizer to postpone the clash to allow players from Gor Mahia and Leopards represent the National team in the upcoming friendlies against Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea.

KPL has however rejected the request saying the national team fixtures do not fall under the FIFA Calender. The organizers are also keen to avoid fixture congestion.

“It will be difficult for us to call off the match as this was planned in advance and also our schedule is tight with Caf demanding that we finish the top league by October. We request that FKF uses other players for national team since this are just friendly matches,”KPL chairman Jack Oguda is quoted by goal.

Gor Mahia has three fixtures pending and have to take part in the CAF Confederations Cup and the FKF Shield as well.
