Timothy Ndung’u, the father of the two boys said that he was out in the field where he works as a casual labourer when he was called by his neighbours.

“I had left the children under the care of their mother, Rose Nyambura, who is also a casual labourer, but was shocked to receive news from my neighbours that she was burning my children with a hot panga. I rushed home immediately only to find that the children had been rescued by the police,” said Ndung’u.

Mr. Ndung’u seemingly in disbelief said that they he and his wife had lived peacefully since 2004 when they got married and were blessed with five children.

“I have never seen my wife behave like this before. We have always been in a good relationship and she has been taking good care of our children,” he added.

Narok Children Social Worker, Elizabeth Kasura said that the children will be taken to Narok Referral Hospital where they will receive treatment before being taken to a children’s home. They are said to have suffered serious burns and cannot sit down.

She called on parents to take their parental responsibility of caring for their children by providing them with enough quality food, clothing and good shelter.

“You do not have to suffer as a parent, approach the children office if you cannot afford to raise your children and we will help you in guiding you on how you can support them,” said Kasura.

Ms. Kasura said the suspect will soon be taken to court and charged with child abuse.
