Some reports this morning say that Paul Pogba celebrated and high fived team-mates when he learned that Jose Mourinho had been sacked as Manchester United manager.

There’s no doubt that the strained relationship between two huge personalities was causing problems on and off the pitch and many believe we will see Pogba finally show what he’s capable of under a new manager.

Interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a self-confessed fan of the French World Cup winner and in a Sky Sports interview this summer, said he would build a team around the player who he successfully worked with as a youngster during his time as the reserve team boss.

“I would [build the team around him], absolutely no doubt,” he said. “I had him with David (Gray) and Etzaz (Hussain) who is playing for me tomorrow.

“That just shows how far the kid has come. Paul is a fantastic kid so hopefully we can build the team around him and keep him.”

In another interview last year, Solskjaer said: “His personality, work ethic and physique is outstanding. And his creativity, not to say the least. He’s a fantastic distributor of the ball, a bit like Scholes was for a period.”

This morning, Solskjaer took his first training session as United’s interim boss at Carrington. Although he is not expected to be in the job beyond the end of the season, his arrival has been warmly welcomed by the majority of United fans who remember his exploits as a player.
