Gor Mahia beat Kenya Police FC 3-2 in a pre-season friendly match played on Thursday morning at the Camp Toyoyo grounds. The Champions fielded a strong first half team that included Joash Onyango, Shafik Batambuze and Nicholas Kikirui.
Gor went ahead through Boniface Omondi but Police restored parity towards the end of the first half to go into the break with both teams level at 1-1.
The second half saw changed a line up from K’Ogallo which resulted in the team losing a bit of cohesion. A costly defensive mistake was duly punished as police took advantage to take a 2-1 lead.
A late rally, however, saw Gor Mahia change the complexion and result of the match. A long-range strike from Dickson Ambundo made it 2-2 2 and with Policeunder pressure, the defense found it hard to cope and scored an own goal that handed the win to the record Kenya Premier League champions.
The club is set to announce Finnish tactician Steven Pollack as their new head coach following the resignation of previous coach Hassan Oktay earlier this week.
