Man City Challenged With an Uphill Task Before Bragging Rights Over United

Manchester took a deep breath after narrowly slipping from the tearful jaws of Liverpool. It was a celebration like no other! One can just imagine how aggressive and hungry Liverpool were for the Premier League title.

Imagine a bloodied bear one step away from you! You can imagine how the hearts of the blues were beating hastily.

Manchester City finally lifted the Premier League trophy with just one point ahead of their main contender Liverpool.

With the win, City became the first team to secure back-to-back titles since Manchester United in 2009.

But, this year, Pep’s side can do something no team has done before – win the domestic treble.

City have already won the League Cup and the Premier League and they have a chance to complete the set by winning the FA Cup against Watford on Saturday.

Winning the treble would see City write another famous page into the history books.

However, football pundit Robbie Savage still believes that the blue half of Manchester are still very much in the shadow of their neighbours.

He claims that only one thing – winning the Champions League, will be able to take them out of it.

Manchester United celebrate

“Pep Guardiola will never leave the neighbours over at Old Trafford completely in the shade until Manchester City win the Champions League,” Savage wrote for the Mirror.

“All the smart money will be on City to complete a domestic treble of title, League Cup and FA Cup against Watford at Wembley this weekend.

“But for all the glorious football they have played, and their astonishing stockpile of points over the last two seasons, they know the big prize Manchester United have already won three times has escaped them [The Champions League].”

“United’s Treble of title, FA Cup and European Cup in 1999 will remain the yardstick for greatness until it is matched – or even surpassed – by the Quadruple.”

Savage does go on to admit that this City side are perhaps the greatest Premier League team of all time, but he believes there’s still one crown United can lay claim to – at least for now.
