DCI nabs Ethiopian immigrants found sneaking into the country via Isiolo bush

A group of illegal immigrants from Ethiopia and Eritrea were on Saturday nabbed by police for unlawful entry into the country.

According to police, the immigrants were driven through the bush from Moyale to avoid being detected by authorities at the border town.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said that 18 Ethiopians and six Eritreans were arrested by a team of detectives in Merti, Isiolo County.

“The immigrants were found being driven through the bush from Moyale to Nairobi to avoid detection. Driver escaped but is being sought,” said Kinoti.

Meanwhile Police are pursuing the driver of their car, who managed to escape during the joint operation by Kenyan security teams.

The arrested suspects will however be arraigned in court on Tuesday, charged with being in the country illegally.
