Why Women Reps are Silent on Rising Murders

Kenyans are now demanding for the Women politicians to speak about the rising femicide cases in the country.

Reacting to a case where a 24-year-old woman was hacked to death by his lover in Nyeri, a Kenyan has asked Women Members of Parliament to address the issue.

This murder case happens barely a week after University student Ivy Wangeci was axed to death by her jilted lover.

The lover who was to be later subjected to mob justice was rescued by police officers and taken to hospital in critical condition.

The Nyeri murder opens wounds on another incident where a Pwani University student was stabbed 17 times by her baby daddy after she reverted back money sent to her.

In the melee that ensued after a short argument, the student’s lover is said to have drawn out his knife and stabbed the helpless lady severally.

The screams from the lady attracted attention from neighbours who called police to handle the situation.

Sensing he was cornered, the student’s lover locked the door from the inside, forcing police officers to force their way into the house.

“Our police officers were alerted by neighbours of the incident and when they rushed there the man had locked the house. Police had to forcibly gain entry and rescue the woman,” said Mr Okeri.
