Manchester United’s title race dilemma explained

Liverpool’s 2-0 at Anfield over Chelsea in the English Premier league now means that all Jurgen Klopp’s side have to do now is win their remaining 4 games and hope that Manchester City slips for them to claim their first league title in 29 years. You would think that Manchester City are the one’s more troubled by this but infact, it is the other half of Manchester that is having sleepless nights.

Manchester United may be city rivals with Pep Guardiola’s side but their real and most intense rivalry is with Liverpool. Manchester are England’s most succesful club with 20 league titles while Liverpool are a close second with 18 triumphs. Should Jurgen Klopp’s side win this season’s title not only will they ended a 29 year old drought, they will be right in the faces of their Manchester rivals.

So here is Manchester United’s dilemma; they still have to face Manchester City at Old Trafford this season. Should they win that match, they will hand Liverpool the initiative in the title race and should they lose, their chances of finishing in the top 4 will take a massive blow. Ole Gunnar’s side are currently in 5th on the log with 64 points, this is surely not the time to be dropping points at home.

So While Manchester City and Liverpool are caught up in a thrilling itle race not witnessed for a lng time in England, it could be the Red Devils who could eventually decide who wins it. Who will they opt for?
