A DP William Ruto’s Mount Kenya loyalist has said the Jubilee Party will not entertain an impeachment motion against the deputy President, terming it “nonsense.”
The legislator who also happens to be in bad books with President Uhuru Kenyatta also said that the war on corruption is being used by Dr Ruto’s political enemies to frustrate him from occupying the highest office in the land in 2022.
Walked out on MP
On the 28th of February, President Uhuru Kenyatta walked out on Kiharu MP’s speech for the second time at a burial ceremony in Murang’a County.
Immediately Ndindi Nyoro took to the podium to speak at Thayu Kamau Kabugi’s burial, Uhuru excused himself and only came back after the lawmaker finished his speech.
The president has in many occasions warned leaders against constant politicking and urged them to concentrate on service delivery.
“Those calling, imagining or even scheming for the impeachment of Deputy President William Ruto are only being populist. The likes of Siaya Senator James Orengo never win any election on merit. He does so by singing Baba’s name,” said Ndindi Nyoro.
Impeach DP Ruto
Siaya Senator James Orengo pledged on Sunday to institute an impeachment motion against Deputy President William Ruto.
Orengo said a Deputy President can be kicked out of office if it’s found that he or she has violated the Constitution or any other law.
The Senator said the country cannot move forward with a Deputy President who is at the centre, any time a corruption case is mentioned.
“I want to repeat here and now that the Senate together with the National Assembly, we want to bring a motion of impeachment to kick out DP Ruto from office,” Orengo said.
Addressing Ugenya residents during campaigns for the Ugenya by-election, Orengo said Article 150 of the Constitution is enough to throw out DP Ruto. He was campaigning for Chris Karan.
Orengo added that the threshold for the removing of the Deputy President in office on the constitutional grounds is much lower than the criminal prosecution threshold.
What could he be smoking?
“He (Orengo) is therefore looking for political mileage so that he can keep his relationship with his party leader Raila Odinga and his political clout,” said Ndindi.
“Orengo and the Senate have no mandate to impeach the Deputy President, so I have no idea what Orengo could be smoking over there,” he added
DP Ruto Unstoppable
“Ruto’s wave cannot be stopped because he is on the ground unlike the likes of Orengo who are busy making noise all over and have their support only in Nyanza. Only Wanjiku will make that decision – not courts, not Parliament not anyone else,” said MP Nyoro.
He added: “They better get something to do that is useful and worth their time and stop day- dreaming about impeachment.”
“They have seen Ruto has already won the 2022 presidential race and they are trying all dirty ways to stop him,” noted the youthful MP.
Ruto Innocent
The MP went ahead to exonerate DP Ruto of corruption claims, saying he has never been directly implicated in any of the scandals.
He said the war on corruption had been hijacked by DP Ruto detractors who had were using it to quash his chances at 2022.
