Ugandan defender Shafik Batambuze  has completed his move to Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia. The KPL winner with Tusker in 2016 becomes the Champions’ first signing as they seek to bolster their squad yet another title defending season.

The defender has been with Singida United in Tanzania for the last two seasons and his move, on a two year deal, sees him return to Kenya after leaving Tusker for Singida at the start of 2017.

Batambuze is seen as the ideal replacement for Godfrey Walusimbi who left Gor Mahia for Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa three months ago.

“Shafik Batambuze has today penned a two year contract with the reigning champions Gor mahia FC in readiness for the forthcoming CAF CL and the 2019 Kenya Premier League.

“The Ugandan full left back and former Singida United of Tanzania’s player will fill the gap left by Godfrey Walusimbi,” the club reports on its official website.

Batambuze is a league winner with Tusker in Kenya and has also played for Sofapaka and Western Stima.
