Leicester have opened talks with West Brom defender Jonny Evans who has given up on a dream switch to Manchester City.
Albion’s Northern Ireland international and club captain is poised to leave the Premier League basement club on a bargain £3million release clause.
Ex-Manchester United trainee Evans, who lives in the North West, had been hoping for a move to champions City.
Pep Guardiola previously tried to sign Evans last summer but City failed to agree a fee.
Now Evans has been told City will not be returning for him and he is speaking to the Foxes about a switch instead.
