The Kenya Premier League continues this weekend with matchday five set to stage a heavyweights clash between Sofapaka and last season’s runners up Bandari FC.

Bandari is currently unbeaten in the league so far this season and is playing with a certain vigor ns swagger that would have many classifying them as title contenders. Bernard Mwalala’s side is also one step away from qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup Group stages for the first time in their history.

Bandari is currently fifth on the log with eight points and played out a 1-1 draw with Sammy Omollo’s Posta Rangers last time out. They simply cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to keep their title aspirations alive.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka is at 13th on the log having won just one game this season which was against strong relegation candidates and bottom of the table Chemelil Sugar. Batoto Ba Mungu also lost their last league match 3-1 to 2011 Champions Tusker FC.

Defensively Sofapaka has not looked like they are up to the task and have only kept two clean sheets so far in the season.

The head to head record in this fixture favors Bandari as they have beaten Sofapaka twice in their last 6 meetings with Sofpaka wining once while the rest were draws. A loss would condemn Sofapaka to the relegation places with Bandari moving to the top of the table.

The match will be played on Sunday, 6 October and will be played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos from 3 Pm.
