Nairobi Region Representatives Dagoretti Boys High school qualified for Copa U20 final after beating Olbolsat 3-1 in the semi-final staged at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Friday.
Dagoretti started strongly and went ahead through Paul Odhiambo in the 3rd minute after a quick interchange of passes involving Simon Omondi and Samson Chacha.
They continued raiding and Odhiambo had a goal disallowed in the 7th minute for a foul on the keeper. A minute later, Olbolsat equalized through Adan Rashid who beat Dagoretti keeper with a diving header from an Ian Kiprotich cross.
The Nairobi based side continued dominating with Chacha, Odhiambo, Zablon Kutera and marauding left-back Boniface Mwangemi leading the onslaught.
They finally got a second goal in the 22nd minute through Derrick Omondi. A quick switch of play from the left flank to the right set up the attacker who fired past Olbolsat keeper Arnold Robert.
Visibly overwhelmed, Olbolsat opted to sit back and try to beat them on the break but it didn’t yield positive results. Dagoretti took a 2-1 lead to the break.
Dagoretti continued to dominate the proceedings after the interval in search of more goals, Olbolsat barely threatened and opted to defend deeply.
Simon Omondi added a third for Dagoretti in the 77th minute to put the match beyond Olbolsat’s reach.
They will play the winner of the match between St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale and Ebwali in the final.
